Junior Tournament

Junior Singles Tournament (August 27, 2011)

The juniors had a lot of fun! Congratulations to Dan Pergel who won the final against Miteau Butskhrikidze. Ian Brander placed third and Adam Kehman fourth. The parents also enjoyed themselves and had a glorious day to watch their kids play. Everyone involved would like to thank to our pro Javier and also Alex for running a great junior tournament and of course the club for providing a pizza lunch!

Intra-Club Tournaments

Senior Men’s Tournament (August 22, 2011)

Fourteen players participated in the competition, which featured a unique format, whereby each player on a court played four games with each of the other three players as a partner. The two players with the most games won moved on to play with and against other winners. The players all enjoyed this very fair and interesting format. The competition was very close, with numerous matches going down to tie-breakers. The dual winners were Peter McNamara and Greg Faux (in the attached photo, Peter is on the left and Greg on the right). As Francois Laquerre was a popular member of the Senior Men's group, the inaugural Francois Laquerre Memorial Trophy was presented by Carole Laquerre in honour of her late husband (pictured in the middle). The consolation final match saw Ash Gopil and Ed Escares end up as winners. Thanks to Keith and Nancy McGruer for organizing the senior mens’ tournament.

Ladies’ Doubles Tournament (August 27, 2011)

Twenty ladies came out to play this fun tournament! Ten well-matched teams played a round robin format. The two teams with the best win-loss record went to a final match and they were cheered on to the end. The winning team, Stephanie Rackus and Sandy Wynne, went undefeated in all six rounds. Runner-ups were Meredith Ward and our youngest player Allison Harris (the two songbirds). Thanks go to Karen Dube and Kathy Beauregard for organizing the tournament.
